Day 26 - Kindness

Have you ever noticed the joy that arises when you’re kind to others for no particular reason?

For many people, its easy to be kind to others. For others, its harder to look at the pain and suffering of others.

When we turn toward the suffering of others, we often want to fix it. Many times, its actually our own discomfort with the situation that we want to fix.

What if we just listened and empathized with people instead of trying to fix or put on a silver lining?
In this practice, I invite you to turn toward anything that feels difficult or unpleasant either physically or mentally.

Instead of adjusting or fixing, see if you can just hold space for discomfort with an attitude of kindness and patience.

You might just find the discomfort just wanting to be heard or seen. Befriending our experience starts with ourselves and can lead to more happiness and joy :)

Just go easy and remember, “Painful feelings are, by their very nature, temporary. They will weaken over time as long as we don’t prolong or amplify them through resistance or avoidance. The only way to eventually free ourselves from debilitating pain, therefore, is to be with it as it is. The only way out is through.”
