My Story

Adam first started to practice yoga and qigong (mindful movement) in 2008. He wanted to become more flexible physically. He was surprised to discover that these practices held healing benefits that went far beyond the physical. Meditation also became a central focus on his journey of self discovery and service.

Adam currently works as a Physical Therapist (PT), Health Coach, Tai Chi Instructor and Yoga Teacher. In regards to PT, he integrates yoga, qigong, tai chi, mindfulness, and meditation with a traditional orthopaedic approach.

After serving in the U.S. Marines for 4 years, he went to PT school at UMass Lowell and earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (DPT). He then completed a 1 year orthopaedic residency in Oregon and became a Board Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS). After the residency, he moved to Minnesota and worked at the VA in Minneapolis serving veterans in outpatient PT. Finally, Adam moved down to Asheville, NC with his wife Laura where they are now raising their daughter Annora together.

When he was still in PT school, Adam enrolled in a yoga teacher training at Kripalu Center in Massachusetts which changed his life. He met his amazing wife Laura there. They did several more trainings together in yoga, meditation, mindfulness and qigong since then.

After practicing Tai Chi for many years, Adam became certified as a teacher through TaijiFit International.

They currently live in beautiful Asheville, NC with their wonderful daughter, amazing son and their sweet dog.

About Laura

My Story

Laura Potts is a yoga teacher in the Kripalu tradition. She has been practicing yoga and meditation for over 15 years and teaching since 2011. It has become her belief, through both second-hand and personal experience, that an individual’s healing ability is greatly enhanced by mind-body practices. She considers it a privilege to walk alongside her students on their personal journey of self-discovery through a compassionate approach to asana and meditation. When asked about her training and teaching experience, Laura had this to say,

“I am grateful to be a forever-student and to have studied with many different teachers, but my personal practice and my students have been my greatest and most honored teachers.”

Some of her other trainings and areas of teaching experience have included: Trauma Sensitive Yoga, Yoga for Addiction and Recovery, Yoga for Seniors, Yoga for Veterans, Qi Gong, and Yoga Nidra (influenced by the iRest protocol and the teachings of Richard Miller and the Integrative Restoration Institute.

In addition to being a yoga teacher, Laura is a wife, a mother to their wonderful daughter, amazing son and their sweet dog.
